Reader’s Theater
Dear parent,
Your child is participating in a small-group reader’s theater that will develop their fluency, expression, and comprehension while reading.
For the next two weeks, your child will practice reading a familiar text from our language arts program at school and at home. Students will then record their story and add appropriate music to enhance the setting and mood using a recording program called “Garage Band.”
Goals:
1. To interpret the meaning of the text using appropriate expression
2. Clearly and fluently read aloud the selection
Fluency is important. Once a student can read quickly and automatically, they can concentrate on the meaning of what is being read instead of just the sounds of the words. This is when comprehension and independent learning takes place.
Please help your child fluently read their selections clearly with expression. Thank you in advance for your help!
Check back by the week of November 5th for the finished projects!
